Last March, we hosted a sold-out event to discuss the significant opportunities presented through New York’s Medicaid 1115 Waiver. Since then, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that nine organizations would receive a total of $500 million in awards over the next three years to create a new Social Care Network (SCN) program in New York State and CMS has provided more information on the financial model for the AHEAD global budget program which will be coordinated with the NY Waiver’s Medicaid global budget program.

Now is when “the rubber hits the road,” as the new SCNs and downstate New York safety net hospitals prepare to operationalize these programs along with health plans, IPAs, medical groups, CBOs and others.

In early January, CMS approved a groundbreaking amendment to New York’s Medicaid 1115 Waiver, allowing the state to make large investments (approximately $6.8 billion in funding over the next three years) across a series of wide-ranging Medicaid initiatives that expand access to primary and behavioral health, address health-related social needs to reduce disparities and promote health equity, and strengthen the healthcare workforce.

This amendment presents significant opportunities for innovative digital health companies to engage and provide solutions, as well as for hospitals, IPAs, CBOs and others to build population health management infrastructure.

We hosted a panel experts in the sector who reviewed critical aspects of the amendment and highlighted how organizations can prepare for success.

Women’s health has long been narrowly focused or worse, neglected, by the healthcare system. Our panel explored new approaches, discussed how the industry has advanced, and areas for future growth.

As is our tradition, on July 20th we held our annual summer rooftop party to meet up with old friends and colleagues, and make new connections. This year's event was hosted by our friends at Pillsbury on their incredible outdoor deck with stunning views of midtown Manhattan.
